Locating the primary and secondary sources about Japan's cotton/textile industry from the Meiji period that consisted of "grey literature"

Audience:

Both Undergraduate and Graduate students as well as Researchers

Learning Objectives1

Participants will be able to:

• enhance skills and ability to utilize library resources and services
• understand various types of literature (primary and secondary sources: articles, statistics, opinion, news, etc.)
• understand concept of grey literature (producers, types, characteristics, and functions)
• select appropriate index databases for both primary and secondary resources
• select appropriate databases for grey literature on cotton/textile industry
• search appropriate databases effectively to locate relevant literature for the topic
• understand the strengths and weaknesses of relevant databases for the topic
• critically evaluate web sites for grey literature
• locate relevant literature on cotton/textile industry
• identify important primary and secondary sources for the topic
• obtain identified literature not available at one's own library through interlibrary loan (ILL) services

• Question & Answer: participants explain why this resource can be considered as "primary (important) literature on the topic
