About the Library:

The Libraries of Graduate Schools for Law and Politics / Faculty of Law  consists of four sections: 

Faculty of Law Library holds general law information materials (books, journals, periodicals, Japanese law/precedents, etc), 

Foreign Law Materials Reading Room holds information materials on foreign laws and legal precedents. 

Legal History Materials Reading Room holds information materials on (mainly Japanese) legal history.

Center for Modern Japanese Legal and Political Documents [Meiji Shinbun Zasshi Bunko] mainly holds newspapers and periodicals published in the Meiji and Taisho periods.

Legal History Materials Reading Room

  • Please make sure to send a holdings survey request (所蔵調査依頼 Shozō chōsa irai) by fax from your home institution library. 
  • If you are not affiliated with any university or research institution:
    • Please verify the desired material is available by using UT OPAC.
    • After finding materials, please fill out the application form Shiryo riyo shinseisho 資料利用申請書  found on their webpage and send by Fax.
  • Hours: 9:30-12:00, 13:00-16:00
  • Closed: Saturday, Sunday, National Holidays, New Years Holidays, First Thursday of every month and the Entrance Exam Period.

    • Phone number
    • Affiliation 
    • Name
    • Purpose of the visit (research objectives)
    • Requested materials 
    • Duration of visit
