About the Library:

The North Library was originally the library for the Liberal Arts , now functioning as the Central Library Annex.

The library holds 329,591 books (227,446 in Japanese, and 102,145 in Western languages), and 2,057 periodical titles (1,166 in Japanese and 891 in Western languages) (as of March, 2011).

How to Use the Facility

Using the Library

Upon Arrival:

  • The online catalog: Hokkaido University Library Catalog
  • Please present some form of personal ID that shows the current address to obtain a one day pass ( 一日利用証 Ichinichi riyōshō) for the library use and photocopy.

Photocopy:

  • Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws. 
  • The copy machines accept 10 yen coin or greater, 1,000 yen bill, or a copy card (please purchase at the vending machine in the library or the university co-op)
