About the museum:

Founded in 1913 by Emily Sibley Watson, the Memorial Art Gallery's permanent collections began with the donation of a lappet of lace. Its permanent collection, containing artworks from over a 5,000-year span, has been heralded as the best balanced collection in the state outside of New York City.
