About Nihon University College of Art

The Nihon University College of Art (Nihon daigaku geijutsugakubu 日本大学藝術学部) was opened on April, 1921. Since its opening, the school produced many famous artists in the various art field, especially in film, broadcasting and photography field.

The College of Art is one of the Tokyo five art universities (Tokyo go bijutsu daigaku 東京五美術大学) and participates in joint exhibition with the other four: Musashino Art University, Tokyo Zokei University, Women’s Art University and Tama Art University. In addition, the school has awarded prominent alumni every year since 2006, called Nichigeishō (日藝賞).

The school has 8 departments: Photography, Cinema, Fine Arts, Music, Literary Arts, Drama, Broadcasting and Design.

The School has two campuses: Ekoda Kōsha (江古田校舎) and Tokorozawa Kōsha (所沢校舎).

  • JR Musashino Line (武蔵野線) Higasitokorozawa station (東所沢駅) and Seibu Shinjuku Line (西武新宿線) Kōkukōen station (航空公園駅):
    • Take a Bus (15 minutes)

Using the Library

Ekoda Campus

Prior to the Visit:

  • Advance Inquiry Required: Please find information materials by using OPAC and ask the home institution library to contact them by FAX to verify the desired material is available when you plan to visit.
    • Reference Service Hours: Monday-Friday: 9:00-17:00, Saturday: 9:00-13:00
  • Letter of Introduction (紹介状 Shōkaijō) Required (from your home institution library). Please use the following form if the home institution does not have one:
    • Letter of Introduction (Word,  PDF)

Upon Arrival:

  • Please present the letter of introduction, response to inquiry (FAX) and some form of personal ID.

Photocopy:

  • Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.
  • Self Service

  • Copy fee
    • Black: 10 yen
    • Color: 50 yen
