About Economic Research Center:

The Economic Research Center (ERC) dates back when Nagoya Commercial College, the predecessor of Nagoya University School of Economy, founded the Industry Research Bureau in 1926 at the suggestion of Akamatsu Kaname, best known for his idea of the flying geese paradigm. Since its establishment,  (ERC) has conducted both empirical and theoretical researches on the structure and dynamics of the international, especially the Asian region's  economy and business.

Using the Library

Prior to the Visit:

  • Please verify the desired material is available by using Nagoya University Library OPAC.

Upon Arrival:

  • Please present some form of personal ID at the entrance desk.


  • Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.
  • Please fill out an application form for photocopying on the ERC Library desk.
  • Coin-operated photocopy machines can be found at the Central Library and Co-op.
