About the Hiroshima University Library:

The Hiroshima University Library consists of 5 buildings with a combined floor area of 28,000 (m²).  It is considered one of the largest libraries in the country.

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects a different romanization system used by an individual institution or collection.

Using the Library

There are Entrance (入館 Nyūkan) gate and Exit (退館 Taikan) gate.

Reading and reference service only.

Prior to the Visit:

• Please make sure that material(s) are available by checking the OPAC.

Photocopy:

• Please fill out the request form (複写申込書 Fukusha shinseisho ) next to the copy machine.

• Self-service Copy Fee:

• Black: 10 yen
• Color: 50 yen

• At Counter Fee:

• Black: 50 yen
• Color: 100 yen

Accessing Closed Stack

• Please use the request form (図書利用票 Tosho riyōhyō) or (雑誌利用票 Zasshi riyōhyō ) for magazines and submit at the check in /out counter.

• Up to 8 books and up to 5 magazines per request.

• Please return the material(s) within fifteen minutes of closing.

Accessing Rare Materials

Note: This procedure is also applicable for using their digital collections.

Prior to the Visit: 

• Please ask for inquiry(s) at:

• Please fill out "貴重資料等利用許可願 (PDF)" and "デジタル画像資料等利用許可願" for using digital collections at least one week before the visit.

• Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.

• No photocopy service is available, but users can take photo(s). Please bring your own camera.
