About the Museum:
The University Museum also known as Fujukan (風樹館) was opened in 1967 for the purpose of performing research and educational activities. Fujukan stores over 70,000 items of specimens and arts and crafts including specimens of Iriomote cat and Okinawa rail, which are considered endangered species, archaeological materials from Shuri Castle, traditional crafts and farming tools from all over Ryukyu Islands. In addition, Fujukan has the Biotope area being used for observing various plants and animals.
Collection size: 70,000 items
Focus: Arts and Crafts, Archeological, Geographical, Ethnic, Soil, Stone, Plant and Animal samples
