About the Library:
Toyo Bunko holds about 1,000,000 library materials, including 5 national treasures and 7 important cultural properties. The library’s collection consists of 2 prominent collections: Japanese and Chinese books collected by Hisaya Iwasaki, the third president of the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, and books relating to the Far East collected by G. E. Morrison, London Times correspondent and political advisor to the Chinese government.
The library materials are cataloged linguistically according to Asian, Western and Japanese language materials
In addition, many of them have been digitized and available to the public in the 5 newly built exhibition rooms.
Collection Size: 950,000 volumes
Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.
