About Art Research Center :

Ritsumeikan University Art Research Center (ARC) was established in 1998, and, the following year, the facility building was completed. Since its founding, ARC has researched, analyzed, recorded, organized, preserved and present human culture products ,both tangible and intangible, with a focus on arts, entertainment, technology, skill and finesse in order to hand down the human culture to posterity.

The main role of ARC is to preserve and use of performing arts, support for creating arts and present and share these artwork with the public, offer educational programs to understand art and study and develop educational programs by utilizing comprehensive researches in humanities and social sciences that University has accumulated and current digital technology.

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.

Prior to the Visit: Advance Inquiry and Preparation Required

• Please fill out a special collections request form (貴重資料閲覧申請書 Kichō shiryō etsuran shinseisho, PDF), available on their webpage.

• Digitized images for the following materials are available: floating world and other paintings (Japanese)  or special books (Japanese).  For viewing the original materials, please send Library a request by e-mail. Please make sure to include:please send "貴重資料閲覧申請書" by mail at least a week prior to your visit.

• Please use ARC Holding Materials Search (ARC collections link below) to examine their holdings.
