About the Law Library:

The Law School at the University of Washington was founded in 1861, and has moved several times before arriving at the William H. Gates Hall, where it is currently located along with the Gallagher Law Library. The Library's main purpose is to support the law program at UW, but is also open to other students, faculty, and staff from the university, as well as the general public.

Summary of Collections

Collection size: as of July 2014 the Gallagher Law Library had nearly 700,000 items of which over 32,000 are in Japanese.  The library also has important digital resources (see below) on Japanese law and is one of the major centers of Japanese legal studies outside Japan.
