The East Asian Collection is housed within the Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center, the main library for the University of Pennsylvania.
Collection size: as of June 2014 the library contained over 5.5 million items of which over 55,000 are in Japanese. The University of Pennsylvania Libraries collections support all academic pursuits at Penn, and vary greatly in subject. The Japanese collection is currently focusing on blending multiple thematic approaches to Japanese studies, breaking down chronological and topic distinctions for a more rounded understanding of subject matter.
