About the Institution:

The establishment of the predecessor of the institution dates back to June 1949. The institute conduct research and surveys concerning education.

After the major restructuring of the central government in January 2001, the institute became the "National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER)".  Under the new system, NIER has strengthen as a research organization which contributes to promotions and formulation of educational policies.
