About the Facility:

Founded in 2001, the Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (JACAR) is a full-fledged digital archive. Its digital collections contain records of Japan's historical relations in Asia and elsewhere. the Center receives Asia-related historical digital records dating from the early Meiji era to the end of the World War II digitized by their holding institutions: the National Archives of Japan, Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and National Institute for Defense Studies of the Ministry of Defense which possess the originals of these records.
