Gifu University: Library (岐阜大学 図書館)

About Gifu University Library:

 Since its founding the Gifu University Library has been building its collection in accordance with the Institutions principal instructional directions.  There are two main libraries: the central library and the Medicine Library.  

The university library holds at least 890,000 library materials.  Their collection varies from the Education field to Environmental Sciences. 

Collection Size: 

• Library Materials: 890,000 volumes (Periodicals: 17,000 volumes)
  • Japanese: 600,000 volumes
  • Western languages: 290,000 volumes

Notable Collection(s):

• Complete Collection of Reprinted Newspapers and Periodicals on Education in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa Periods (Reprints): Reprinted newspapers and periodicals which focus on reports and commentary in the education field.

• Iwata Library (岩田文庫): Donated by Dr. Shuzo Iwata, professor emeritus of Gifu University.  The collection include rare books about indigenous mathematics of Japan (2,800 volumes).

• Hayano Library (早野文庫): Donated by Dr. Saburo Hayano, former president of Gifu University.  The collection include some valuable art books (860 volumes).

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.

Using the Library

Prior to the Visit:

• Please verify the desired material is available by using Gifu University Library's OPAC web Service.

Upon Arrival:

• Please present your ID at the library counter located on the second floor and fill out visitor's form.
