About the Library:

The University of Tsukuba Library (Tulips) consists of the Central Library and four specialized libraries, the: Art and Physical Education Library, Medical Library, Library on Library and Information Science, and Otsuka Library (Tokyo). When it comes to acquiring library materials, all libraries are under the control of the unified administrative system.  In addition, they use open stack system to be open to the community. The university library also provides good reference services, including volunteer staff service in English at the Central library.

Using the Library

Open to the Public

Prior to the Visit:

  • Please verify the desired material is available by using Tulips OPAC.
 
Upon Arrival:
  • Please fill out a form to obtain the visitor's badge at the main counter.


Photocopy:

  • Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.
  • Copy Fee:
    • Black: 10 yen
    • Color: 70 yen

Accessing Rare Materials
 

Special Procedure for viewing Rare books (including Japanese books made before years of Keicho (1614))

These are indicated as "Rare books" in the "material format" section on the Online Catalog.

Prior to the Visit:

  • Please fill out "貴重図書等閲覧申請書" and mail to:

  • Please send this out well in advance in order for it to arrive at the library at least a week before the planned visit, allowing for typical days required for international mail.
