About Tokyo Gakugei University:

Tokyo Gakugei University (東京学芸大学 Tokyo gakugei daigaku, also known as TGU) is a national university in Koganei, Tokyo. Although it's origin dates back to 1873, it became a university in 1949 as result of the merger of four teacher-training institutions.

TGU has various departments ranging from education, humanities, social science, natural science and and physical education as well as various as well as the art field such as music and fine arts.

International Student Education Program (ISEP)
ISEP is specially designed for international students. In addition to their specially-designed curriculum, the students can take regular classes in various disciplines in English or Japanese (depending on language ability) with optional Japanese language classes from beginner to advanced. Every student also has an Individual Study Project based on their interests.
Teacher Training Program for Foreign Teachers
The training program provides trainees in the teaching profession or educational administration overseas with the opportunity to engage in research in their specialized field at the teacher student program of a Japanese university. The program is also aiming trainees to acquire teaching skills in Japan and use to educate people in their countries.
