About Komazawa University:

Komazawa University (駒澤大學 Komazawa daigaku or 駒大 Komadai ) is one of the oldest universities in Japan. Its history starts in 1592, when Sendanrin (旃檀林) seminary was established to be a center of learning for the young monks of the Sōtō sect, one of the two main Zen Buddhist traditions in Japan.

Komadai has 8 faculties and 24 departments and appended graduate programs (except the Departments of Radiological Sciences and Global Media) with 3 campuses: Komazawa (main),  Futakotamagawa (physical education) and Fukazawa campus (graduate research).  The university also has 7 research institutes and the Museum of Zen Buddhist Culture.
