About Toyo University:

Toyo University (東洋大学 Tōyō Daigaku) is a private university in Tokyo, Japan. Toyo University is known for philosophical study. The department of Indian philosophy, especially, has excellent scholars. Toyo University began as a private academy of philosophy (私立哲学館 Shiritsu Tetsugakukan ), founded by Dr. Enryo Inoue in 1887. Its founding motto is “all knowledge is grounded in philosophy”, and the words should be understood “philosophy is the basis of all studies with the fundamental view of values."


Today, Toyo University has 10 faculties: Literature, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Sociology, Science and Engineering , Information Sciences and Arts, Regional Development Studies, Life Sciences, and Life Design.  Toyo has 11 graduate schools: Literature, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Sociology, Science and Engineering, Information Sciences and Arts, Regional Development Studies, Life Sciences, Welfare Society Design, Interdisciplinary New Science ,and the Law School.

The Toyo University has several branches, including Those in Bunkyō, Tokyo, Asaka, Kawagoe, and Itakura.
