About the Museum:

The Otani University museum was founded in October 2003 to preserve and exhibit important cultural materials to the public. Otani University owns eight important cultural objects.

Summary of Collection(s)

Collection Size: about 12,000 items

Notable Collection(s):
  • Shunki (春記): Heian period diary written by Tōgū (東宮) Ononomya Sukefusa (権大夫小野宮資房), an important cultural property.
  • Senchaku hongan nenbutsushū (選択本願念仏集): Kamakura period, comprised and written by Honen (法然) in 16 chapters, an important cultural property.
  • Yuasa Kagemo kishinjō (湯浅景基寄進状)(明恵加筆文書: Kamakura period, written by YTears for the Lovers (湯浅景基) when Semuiji (施無畏寺) was given to Myōen (明恵), an important cultural property.

Admission:

  • Permanent Exhibition: 200 (160) yen
  • Special Exhibition: 300 (240) yen

Admission is free for the following:

  • Otani University affiliates and alumni
  • Seniors (70 years +)
  • Those with disabilities (+ one companion)
