About the Nakanoshima Library:
The Nakanoshima library building ( the center part and 1 library) was made in 1904 with money donated by Kichizaemon Sumitomo (住友吉左衛門) the 15th. The building was designed by Noguchi Magoichi(?) (野口孫市), the chief architect of the Sumitomo family. The facade supported by Corinthian columns is in the Greek shrine style, and the domed central hall resembles a church. In 1992, designed by Hidaka Yutaka (日高胖), both right and left building were completed. In 1974, the main building and both right and left buildings became important cultural properties of Japan.
The Nakanoshima library specializes East Asian classics, Osaka related materials and Business.
Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.
