About Newspaper Library

Newspaper Library was open in 2000.  The library collects daily newspapers from members of the Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association. Currently, 170 titles are held.  The print copies of issues for the last four month are available onsite.  Additionally back issues are held on 53,000 reels of microfilms and CD-ROMs dating back as far as 1872.  In addition the library contains a small collection of books about journalism.  

About The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association:

The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association (日本新聞協会 Nihon Shinbun Kyokai or NSK) was founded in 1946, to improve ethical standards and protect and promote the media's common interests.  NSK is an independent  organization funded and operated by the mass media.

• Micro-films: 53,000 items

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.
