Overview

The Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution (DRI) was established in April 2002 to commemorate the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, which struck in January 1995.

Today, the DRI engages in data collection, research on past natural disasters, risk management assessment and planning for future disasters, and education.  Programs for disaster prevention officers and the general public include training programs and exhibits in DRI's two conjoined museums.
