About the Library:
The Tama Library offers a variety of magazines and provides services to children and youth. In May of 2009, the library began the Tokyo Magazine Bank, a large collection of magazines and journals (the first public library in Japan to do so). The Tokyo Magazine Bank contains about 16,000 periodical titles (around one million items). The library also holds a large number of collections of publications for adolescents and children. In the adolescent section, there are about 16,000 items (including 40 periodical titles and 6 newspaper titles). In the children section, there are 166,000 items (including 876 periodical titles and 18 newspaper titles).
In addition, there is a section devoted to research materials related to children's books and reading.
