About the National Institute of Japanese Literature:

The National Institute of Japanese Literature, also known as Kokubunken (国文研), was established in May, 1972 under supervision of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.  Kokubunken holds manuscripts and books that are related to the study of Japanese literature. 

Kokubunken was located near Togoshi Koen in Shinagawa-ku Tokyo until 2008 when it moved to its current location in Tachikawa (please see the map for direction).

Its databases also include links to North American collections that contain old and rare Japanese books, print materials and manuscripts, please see links below.
