About the Research Institute for Oriental Cultures:

The Research Institute for Oriental Cultures was established in 1952 for the purpose of researching into a wide range of oriental countries and races. Since its establishment, the facility has conducted interdisciplinary and international collaborative research into the histories and cultures of the East Asian region. The facility, collects a wide variety of Korean related materials especially.  Because of this, the facility has a reputation in the Korean History field. The facility completed publication of a facsimile of "Ijo silrok" (The Ri Dynasty Annals of Korea).

Using the Library Materials

The Stacks are closed except those in the reference room.

Prior to the Visit:

• Please make sure that material(s) are available by checking the OPAC (Check 東文研).

Upon Arrival:

• Please present some form of ID.
  • Please fill out the viewing form (閲覧票 Etsuranhyō).
  • Please fill out (閲覧台帳 Etsuran daichō) and submit it to the library staff.

Photocopy:

• Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.
• Copy Fee:
  • Self Service: 10 yen
  • By Staff: 30 yen

Using the Yuho Bunko (友邦文庫)

Prior to the Visit:

• Please make sure that material(s) are available by checking the OPAC (Check 友邦文庫).

• Please fill out the Library Materials Request Form "閲覧事前申込書" and submit it by e-mail:
  • ori-off#gakushuin.ac.jp (Please replace # with @)

Photocopy:

• Please fill out the copy request form (複写申込書 Fukusha mōshikomisho) and submit it to the library staff.

Note: When referring materials in your research, Please use "友邦文庫" for the name of the collection and "学習院大学東洋文化研究所" for the name of the institutions and once published, please donate a copy to the institution.
