About Sanko Library
The origin of Sanko library dates back in 1902.when Ohashi Library (大橋図書館) was founded by Ohashi Sahei (大橋佐平), who was a director of Kobunkan (博文館). In 1964, when Sankō Research Institute for the Study of Buddhism (三康文化研究所 Sankō bunka kenkyūjo) was established, the library became a part of the institution.
The library hold about 256,000 volumes related to the Buddhism as well as woodblock prints and reproductions of old documents from the Edo period.

Nozarashi kikō (野ざらし紀行): Haikai (俳諧) style travelers journals by Matsuo Basho (松尾芭蕉).
Kuniezu (国絵図): Japanese land maps by Inō Tadataka (伊能忠敬).
Takeda Collection (竹田家文庫): Library materials related to history and miritary(about 8,800 items).
Uchida Collection (内田文庫): Library materials related to law(about 4,800 items).
Shiio Collection (椎尾文庫): Library materials related to Buddhism(about 9,500 items).
Masutani Collection (増谷文庫): Library materials related to religion and Buddhism(about 2,200 items).
Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.
