Notable Collection(s)
Famine Related Materials (凶作関係資料): Famine related literature and the bibliography from the Edo period, comprised by Tamari Kizo (玉利喜蔵), the first president of Morioka High School of Agriculture and Forestry (盛岡高等農林学校, a predecessor of Iwate University) (638 items).
The collection includes famine record from Tempo (天保) year and Genroku (元禄) year, (the beginning of 18th century- the mid.19th century).
Miyazaki Collection (宮崎文庫): Iwate prefecture local history collection, which was held by Miyazaki Kyūma (宮崎求馬), a local historian. The collection mainly consists of Soga document (曽我文書) from the Middle Ages (4,000 volumes in Japanese and Chinese ).
Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.
