About the Library:

The School of Letters Library is located at Higashiyama Campus.  The library currently holds 291,581 books and 1,212 periodical titles. The Library also holds some Graduate School of Environmental Studies related library materials.

Notable Collection(s):

  • Matsugike monjo (真継家文書): The Matsugi family was Jigeke (地下官人), a court official family that served the Imperial Court. Documents include materials related lower officials in the Imperial Court and related the metal casters (鋳物師 Imoji.) as the Matsugi family was one of the most influencial metal casters in Japan (a database search engine is available on their webpage in Japanese).

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.

  • Please ask the library staff.

Borrowing:

  • Nagoya University Affiliates Only.
  • Up to 5 books for 7days to 14days
