The North American Coordinating Council on Japanese Library Resources (NCC) is currently seeking to fill the role of Chair for the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL/DD) Committee. The Chair of ILL-DD is elected for a three-year term, in this case from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025. Once elected, the ILL-DD Chair will be expected to attend the NCC’s annual Council Meetings.
As you are aware, academic libraries cooperate with one another to provide research materials for their patrons, which is called Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and/or Document Delivery (DD) service. The ILL-DD Committee helps with ILL/DD for Japanese-language materials from libraries in Japan. In the past couple of years, the primary focus of committee activities has been communicating with the National Diet Library about the development of their services and to improve accessibility. For more information about the Committee’s activities, please see the ILL/DD LibGuide.
As is required by its by-laws, the NCC seeks to include among Council Members librarians from diverse regions of the country, from institutions of varying size, and from Japanese and East Asian studies programs with a range of strengths and foci. Selection of candidates will, therefore, take into consideration current representation on those committees in filling these roles. A list of the current Council Members is on the NCC website.
To propose a candidate for this position, please send an email nomination by Friday, November 19th, to NCC Chair Haruko Nakamura haruko.nakamura@yale.edu and to NCC Executive Director Tara McGowan tmcgowan@nccjapan.org. Self-nominations are welcome. We look forward to hearing from you!
