The National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL) and NCC’s Comprehensive Digitization and Discoverability Program (CDDP) Task Force are pleased to announce that the following institutions have been awarded the 2024-2025 NIJL-NCC/CDDP Digitization Grants:
Project title: “Digitizing Japanese Woodblock-printed Illustrated Books at Oberlin College Libraries” (90 titles in 210 volumes in 6,601 leaves)
Estimated cost: $9,915
University of British Columbia Library:
Project title: “UBC Library Japanese Rare Books Digitization Project” (30 titles in 202 volumes in 9,341 leaves)
Estimated cost: $8,325
C. V. Starr East Asian Library, University of California, Berkeley:
Project title: “Japanese Manuscripts Collection at the C. V. Starr East Asian Library, UC Berkeley: A selection of the most academically important titles” (111 titles in 433 volumes in 22,421 leaves)
Estimated cost: $29,996
The individual titles to be digitized are linked from each funded project in the 2024-2025 NIJL-NCC/CDDP Digitization Grant Program webpage within the NCC website. Upon completion of each digitization project, the images of these titles will be made available at NIJL’s Union Catalogue Database of Japanese Texts (国書データベース).
