Okayama University: IPSR Branch Library (植物研分館)

About ISPR Branch Library:

Opened in 1921, the Institute of Plant Science and Resources (ISPR) library is considered  one of the best agricultural and biological libraries in Japan.

The library holds an extensive selection of scientific periodicals as well as rare and valuable library materials, available to the public.

Collection Size (As of 2013): 

• Books: 186,596 volumes    
  • Japanese: 94,716 volumes
  • Western languages: 91,880 volumes

• Periodicals: 12,405 titles
  • Japanese: 7,733 titles
  • Western languages: 4,672 titles

Note: The Guide uses the ALA/LC standard romanization, however, it also reflects different romanization system used by an individual institution.

Using the Library

Prior to the Visit: No Advance Inquiry and Preparation Required.

• Please verify that the desired material is available by using Okayama University's Online Catalog.

Upon Arrival:

• Please fill out the entrance permit (入館申請書 Nyūkan sinseisho).

Borrowing: 

• The library does not lend its library materials to visitors. You may request books from the IPSR library via ILL from the Central Library or Shikata Branch.

Photocopy:

• Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.

• Materials in the library only.

• One copy per person.

• For research use only.

• You are not allowed to copy the entire contents of a library material.
