About Okayama University Libraries:

The University Libraries consist of the Central Library, the Shikata Branch Library, and the Institute of Plant Science and Resources Branch Library. Together, the libraries hold  2,090,000 library materials.

They also provide services to  local communities and other educational institutions. Through their digital library system, users can access 13,500 E-journals, 21 databases, and academic research materials developed by Okayama university scholars.

In November.2015, Okayama University Intellectual Property Office (OUIPO) opened the U.S. office in Silicon Valley to promoting collaborative research with talented individuals outside of Okayama University.

How to Use the Facility

Using the Library

Eligibility: Non affiliate users have limited access to their library resources.

Prior to the Visit: No Advance Inquiry and Preparation Required.

  • Please verify the desired material is available by using Okayama University OPAC.

Upon Arrival:

  • One day Visit: Please enter from the main entrance and fill out a visitor entrance request form (学外者入館申込票, Gakugaisha nyūkan mōshikomisho placed on the left side of the entrance) and submit the form with your ID.
  • One Year Visit: You need to obtain a library card.
    • Eligibility: 18 years or older (not for high school students).
    • ID required.
    • Hour: 09:00 - 17:00

Borrowing: Okayama residents are eligible for borrowing.

  • Undergraduate students
    • Up to 10 Books and Periodicals.
    • Loan Period:  2 weeks (3 days for periodicals).
  • Graduate students
    • Up to 15 Books and Periodicals.
    • Loan Period:  2 weeks (3 days for periodicals).

Photocopy:

  • Photocopy services are provided in accordance with Japanese copyright laws.
  • Materials in the Central library only.
  • For your research use only.
  • Please fill out the photocopy application form.
  • There are both photocopiers that take coins and photocopiers that accept prepaid cards (Co-op).
