About the Facility:

The Chado Research Center was opened in 1979. The museum is located in the Urasenke Center in Kamigyo-ku. The museum is a center of tea ceremony research and holds a vast collection of tea ceremony related documents. Artworks related to tea ceremony are displayed in the exhibition rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors. The Konnichian Library is located on 2nd floor and the library holds about 55,000 library materials related to chado history, literature, religion, architecture, gardens, arts and crafts, and cooking

    • Please Take Kyoto City Bus #9

    • Get off at Horikawa-Teranouchi (堀川寺之内) stop.

    • Walk to the facility (about 2 minutes).

Service Hours: 10:00 -16:00  Saturday: 10:00- 15:00 

Closed: Sunday, National Holidays, Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, New Year's Holidays.

Prior to the Visit: No Advance Inquiry and Preparation Required
