Aozora Bunko, (青空文庫), or “Blue Sky Library” was begun in 1997 by Michio Tomita and is an online collection of thousands of Japanese language works of fiction and non-fiction, including out-of-copyright books or works that the authors have made freely available. Aozora Bunko is widely regarded as the Japanese equivalent to Project Gutenberg.

Aozora Bunko is now offering its titles through Internet Archive, available in PDF, and in mobile device-friendly downloadable formats. Their resources are searchable by category, author, or title.
